The real situation....

Brazilian cartoonist Carlos Latuff creates artworks that call on the world to condemn Israeli holocaust of Gaza Nepos Libertas's blog

Carlos Latuff's statement: I'd like to beg all viewers to spread this image anywhere, as a way to expose Israeli war crimes against Palestinians. Use it on t-shirts, posters, banners. Reproduce it in zines, papers, magazines, and make it visible everywhere. Here is the high-resolution version for printing purposes: [ link ] Thank you in the name of every suffering Palestinian.

Where was this cartoonist's outrage when for years the Israelis were being bombed by Hamas?

Palestinians have been known to never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. Looks like they've missed yet another.

If they're serious about wanting peace, they should sack Hamas and their terrorist ways and begin real negotiations.

to cube,
Might I ask, did any Israeli need to fled Israel after Hamas bombing? Did thousands became homeless because of that bombing? Did those bombings caused thousands of children to be orphans or deny them of their bright future?

Palestinians are like you and I. They want to live in a safe neighbourhood where they have lots of offspring and see them succeed when they get old. But since the formation of Israel, most of them lost their homes and some their lives.

The reason why Hamas do what they do is because diplomacy had failed them. For decades they have been dreaming of a Palestinian state, but it seems that every second has caused the Palestine territory to shrink until to its present size, two isolated territories separated by Israel.

to Jerry,
You have to reason with idiots sometimes, IF he is a superpower. Hmmm, maybe we're not talking about the same idiot after all.

Anyway,if that's your rationale for the current Israeli siege on Gaza,an ordinary palestinian would think the same.

What would a person without a home,a bleak future, and has limited options in life would do if he is constantly under bombardment by meat heads that want nothing but his land and destruction? Off the top of my head, I would say suicide. But that won't change a thing, this guy would think."I must take a few of them with me", he thought to himself. So, with a little chemistry 101 and more than 100ml of liquid, voila!-a sucide bomber is born.

To conclude, Hamas had shown its peaceful side once or twice but unfortunate for them Israel and the US didn't want to recognise them as the Palestinian representative although they were elected by the ppl.

The State of Israel was created by the United Nations in 1948. It is a legitimate sovereign state. And as a state it has the right to defend itself. Hamas was firing rockets at innocent Israeli civilians, so after plenty of warning that Hamas had to stop the attacks, Israel was finally forced into this defensive action.

And to those who maintain that diplomacy had failed so Hamas had no choice but to carry out these unprovoked attacks, you are dead wrong. Israel has been in negotiations for years, and has made peace with both Egypt and Jordan. But Hamas in it's charter calls for the utter destruction of Israel. If Hamas had it's way it would murder each and every Israeli. So how can Israel negotiate with a terrorist organization that wants to destroy it?

If Hamas would only stop the rocket attacks and acknowledge Israel's right to exist, then there could be peace.

The blood from the civilian casualties in Gaza is on the hands of Hamas, not Israel.

to tony,
I am sure Israel has every right of invading Gaza to defend itself just as America has every reason and right to invade Afghanistan and Iraq in order to protect itself.

Contrary to your statement, the 2008 ceasefire was caused by Israel when "On November 4, 2008 the ceasefire began to break down after Israeli forces killed six Hamas gunmen in a raid inside the Gaza Strip"-http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamas#History

The article particularly state that Israel raided Gaza. On top of that, Israels' decision not to allow the red cross to enter Gaza has led to an escalating of humanitarian crisis, so it seems that the blood of the civilian casualties in Gaza is in Israelis hands.

if the pro-Israelis can't acknowledge the atrocities committed by Israel, and the pro-Palestinians can't accept that Hamas is often unreasonable and dangerous, what hope is there that the REAL Israelis and and Palestinians can come together to ensure a peaceful solution to their 60 year old feud?
